Moggie Cats A new "breed" has joined Fried Cats. Moggie is an affectionate British term for a domestic cat. These Cats are hand sculpted and fired in an electric kiln. After the first firing, they are coated with a special slip which cracks. Once the slip is dry, the Cat is fired in a Raku Kiln up to 1500 degrees. Upon reaching temperature, it is removed from the kiln while still hot and placed in a reduction chamber containing newspaper. The smoke is absorbed into the cracks created by the slip resist. Once cool, the slip is chipped or peeled from the cat, resulting in interesting gray and black patterns.
